Join the more than 800 Ottawa residents who volunteer their time and expertise at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. Our volunteer opportunities are designed to create an experience that's rewarding to the volunteer, the organization, and - most importantly - to our Members.
Volunteers make a difference in the lives of our Members. Get involved today and help shape a future!
The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa strongly protects our Members, our staff and our volunteers. Before your volunteer placement can begin, you must go through a screening process.
Complete the online volunteer application form.
If you do not have access to the Internet, you can request a hard copy of the form from our administration office or at any Clubhouse.
Have an interview with the Coordinator of Volunteer Services.
This is a chance for you to ask questions about volunteer opportunities and find out more about aspects of the Club that best match your skills and expertise. This also allows for our Coordinator of Volunteer Services to match your abilities with needs existing within the Club.
Obtain a copy of a police record check (PRC).
In order to volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, we require that you have a current police record check (less than six months old). If you do not have a PRC, during the interview you will receive a formal letter for you to take to the police station to get it free of charge.
Note: It may take up to eight weeks for you to get the PRC. Please plan accordingly. If you don't have your PRC available at the time of the interview, you can provide it at the orientation session.
For more information on getting your PRC, check out this link from Ottawa Police:
Attend an on-site volunteer orientation session.
Volunteer orientation sessions are held at Ron Kolbus, McGahan and Police Youth Centre Clubhouses once a month and at satellite locations on an individual basis. During the orientation sessions you will be familiarized with the volunteer Policies & Procedures and you will get a chance to meet Clubhouse staff and receive a tour of the facilities.
