On Tuesday November 17th a special session of Cool Moves was organized by Melissa Albright. She invited Sensei Pascal Monette from Shotokan International to provide a free demonstration of Karate to members of the Police Youth Centre. Fourteen members participated, it was their first time trying this activity. 

Pascal ran the kids through a warm-up and drills. He then taught proper self defence techniques. The most exciting part of the evening was when members all got to break a wood board with the “knee strike” technique. Most members didn’t think they would be able to break it but after a few tries they all succeeded! Everyone was very proud of their accomplishments. Melissa commented, “This night was an evening these children will never forget, members learnt to respect the art of Karate and each other.”
