Put simply, the Club is where young people feel they belong. Our programs inspire kids to grow into healthy young adults (mind, body and soul) so that they may believe in themselves; envision a bright future; and achieve that vision.

Put less simply, the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa is a leader in after-school, weekend and summer programs for children aged 6-18 years of age. The Club employs trained youth development specialists who offer a blend of recreation and life-skills programs that help develop self-esteem, cultural awareness, confidence, behaviours of healthy living and a desire to become positive members of our community. The Club provides programming for Junior (age 6-10), Intermediate (ages 11-13) and Senior (ages 14-18) members. Clubhouse times are set specifically for each age group and are open to senior members late into certain evenings to ensure there is something for everyone.

Each clubhouse offers these programs as well so please check out their flyers.

Lifelong learning:
At the Club, we believe a healthy attitude toward learning lasts a lifetime. Whether we are in Homework Club, preparing youth for our Scholarship program, or teaching leadership and positive communication skills in the gym, all our programs have a component of learning in a fun and interactive environment. Many of our staff are past members currently working toward a post-secondary degree, diploma or trade school accreditation, so role modeling our commitment to learning comes second nature.

Self-expression through the Arts
Whether you are 6 years old or 18, the Club offers something for you. Arts and Crafts, digital music and film making, music lessons, acting, and creative writing are a sampling of what you can expect from industry experts, volunteers and staff.

Leadership and giving back to your community:
The Clubhouses all offer leadership programs designed to give youth an opportunity to learn how to lead and make a positive contribution in their community and city. Leaders-4-Life, Leading Through Adventure and Youth Councils are 3 of many programs in town, and Camp Smitty is all about leadership (Leaders-in-Training, Counsellor-in-Training, Leading Through Adventure, employment opportunities, and such).

Youth Support Programs:
The Club runs several youth support programs such as our Ottawa Community Youth Diversion Program (OCYDP) and our Youth Outreach Programs.

Sports and Recreation:
We believe all young people need to be active – everyday. Our gyms are filled with fun, safe and exciting programs (after Homework Club is done of course). Our Police Athletic League is an organized, league in 4 sports throughout the year that focuses on positive competition and good sportsmanship. The majority of our activities are open to all and are designed to keep kids active and learning about new activities (badminton, volleyball, and many non-traditional recreational opportunities).
