Art Now

The Art Now Program is a critical component of BGC Ottawa’s Creative Arts Pillar. Operating in the Vanier/Overbrook Area, Art Now connects local children and youth with a rich diversity of arts and culturally based programming.

Participants will have an opportunity to explore and discover culture and self-awareness through art. Art Now gives BGC Ottawa Members experience working with local artists through workshops, lessons and interactive projects such as murals or presentations.

Art helps us all overcome language barriers, communicate emotion and deepen our understanding of humanity. Research into critical hours programming demonstrates that programs like Art Now promote healthy development by helping children with their self-confidence and self-esteem, while improving their overall academic performance.

The holistic Art Now program will incorporate exposure to a large range of artistic disciplines, including dance and movement, visual arts, music, storytelling to promote involvement in recreational activities, youth engagement, and opportunities for self-expression, confidence building and creativity.
