Camp SMitty

Camp Smitty is a 28-acre facility located on the shore of Mink Lake in Eganville, Ont. Founded in 1924, the Camp is owned and operated as a non-profit summer camp by BGC Ottawa. All profits made from rental programs are invested back into Camp Smitty and the Club.

The camp offers a variety of solutions for your event. From guided team-building activities to accommodations, to cooking your meals – it’s an inspirational space for your group’s next conference, retreat, reunion or special event. Our facilities offer an alternative to conventional conference centers by providing fresh air, a natural setting, a beautiful lake, privacy, and an atmosphere conducive to creative thinking and having fun.

The Grounds

Camp Smitty offers a versatile facility and the ability to tailor your event or retreat to meet your needs. Whether you are just renting the space and providing your own programs and activities or having our Staff facilitate your programming, we offer a variety of options.

A natural and private setting, Camp Smitty offers the following facilities:

Twenty-eight (28) acres located on the shore of Mink Lake
Accommodation for up to 160 people in rustic cabins
3,200 square-foot multi-purpose dining hall
Private washroom facilities with hot showers and flush toilets
Private beach-front access
Outdoor amphitheater

Are you looking for an adventure? We offer customized programs for teams or leadership building suited to your group’s needs. We are happy to work with you!

Low Ropes Course

Experience our nature-based ropes course with your group. Obstacles are designed to improve communication, team building and leadership skills. Course challenges can be tailored to age groups and difficulty levels. Obstacles include spider web, whale watch, team wall, three plank and more.

Team Building Challenges

Fun challenges that require a group to think outside the box and work together. Emphasis on teamwork, communication and leadership skills. Ideal for groups up to 20. Games can include Toxic Waste, Helium Stick and Alien Computer.

All-Camp Games

Large-scale programs that usually include the whole group from 20 to 120 participants. Facilitated games can include Capture the Flag, Triad Soccer and Human Rock Paper Scissors.

Camp Activities

Experience all Camp Smitty has to offer. Camp Smitty is set up for basketball, ball hockey, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, ultimate frisbee, soccer, ping pong, pool table, foosball, disc golf, nature walks, crafts and more.

Organized Games

No matter the size of your group, let us plan and facilitate simple, fast-paced games that focus on fun!

We offer a variety of rental packages from the most basic (just rent our space) to turn-key, all-inclusive solutions. Don’t see a package that suits your needs? No problem, let us customize one for you!

The following package outlines are for a typical weekend stay (Friday arrival after 5 p.m., departing Sunday at 12 p.m.).

Mink Lake

BGC Ottawa owns an exquisite log home on the shores of Mink Link. The quality of this specially designed home is apparent from the moment you step inside the door. The home comfortably sleeps six (6) people and features two (2) full bathrooms. Guests will find a BBQ and table to prep/cook outside, and a beautiful wraparound deck that offers stunning lake views. Access to the water is just steps away. Net proceeds fund programs for children and youth in Ottawa communities.
