BGC Ottawa’s Morning Social returns May 15 with a camp-inspired celebration of community, connection and youth potential

Annual event anticipated to surpass $750,000 fundraising goal in support of free, life-changing programs for children and youth across Ottawa

OTTAWA, ONBGC Ottawa, previously known as the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa, will host its signature breakfast fundraiser – the 2025 BGC Ottawa Morning Social | Stronger Together – on Thursday, May 15, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Taggart Parkes Family Clubhouse. The long-standing breakfast event will see community champions, local businesses and philanthropic leaders from across the city gather to raise funds for the Club’s life-changing programs and barrier-free services.

Inspired by the spirit of summer camp – where confidence grows, friendships blossom and futures take shape – this year’s Morning Social embraces a “where camp meets community” theme that reflects what Clubhouses offer young people year-round: a safe space to be themselves, discover new interests, and connect with mentors and role models who believe in them.

More than 400 guests are expected to attend, helping BGC Ottawa move closer to – and likely surpass – its ambitious $750,000 fundraising goal. Funds raised ensure that children and youth across the city continue to access barrier-free programs that support their mental well-being, skill development and sense of belonging.

“The Morning Social is about more than fundraising – it’s about showing up for the youth in our city, because we’re stronger together,” said Farhana Alarakhiya, Vice Chair of BGC Ottawa’s Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Morning Social Circle. “The camp spirit – where confidence, connection and leadership come to life is alive every day in our Clubhouses. It is incredible to see our community come together with such generosity to keep that spirit alive and support youth ready to rise when given the opportunity.”

The event will feature a morning social hour, light breakfast, guest speakers and inspiring stories of impact from BGC Ottawa Members and their families. The energy of the event is rooted in a shared belief: when young people have access to opportunity, there is no limit to what they can achieve.

“At BGC Ottawa, we create life-changing experiences every day – just like the unforgettable moments children and youth enjoy at summer camp,” said Adam Joiner, Chief Executive Officer of BGC Ottawa. “Like camp, our Clubhouses are places where youth build confidence, form lasting relationships and discover their potential. Thanks to our community, we can continue making that possible for thousands of children, youth and their families every year.”
